Awesome wood working projects

20160517_191755SplatSpace member C.J. is a longtime woodworking maker that likes to mix creative engineering/design with woodcraft. This past Tuesday, he brought in a few samples of his work. the first example is a custom parrot puzzle that he designed by hand, transferred to wood, and cut out using a scroll saw. It’s designed in such a way that it, once it’s assembled, it can be picked up by any piece (even the beak) without falling apart.

The second one is a support beam for a drop leaf table. The original metal support beam had been bent and would no longer support the table, so C.J. created a replacement out of wood. The result is more sturdy and longer lasting than the original. You can see what I mean in the pics below.
