Maker culture spreads to the White House

Maker culture continues to spread.

Do you remember a few years ago the video clips of that kid and his marshmallow cannon at the White House? Well that kid, Joey “Marshmallow” Hudy, has inspired the White House to have its own MakerFaire.

Dale Dougherty, the CEO of Maker Media (think Make: Magazine) and one of the founders of MakerFaire, will be working with the White House to launch the Faire, though no one is really clear on what that’s going to look like.

Dougherty recently called 2014 the year of the maker, and is excited about the White House Faire.

“The White House thing would definitely help us celebrate the year of the maker.”
