No, we’re not actually making Splatspace’s fabrication annex into Escape from New York’s maximum penitentiary. But we are totally stealing its font.

 

Jeff Crews recreated the font (for 3D printing purposes) from the movie, and used it to create this just awesome sign for our fabrication annex. The font is up on Thingiverse for all your sign making needs.

One of our former members, Ben Weinstein-Raum, is a student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. He left Splatspace when his coop in the Triangle ended, but was taken by the maker movement and has helped start a makerspace in Blacksburg. He and others in the community have been working on the new makerspace, Hacksburg, for months, and they’re really close to opening, but they need help to get through some last hurdles.
