We Won the Lulzbot Hackerspace Giveaway!

LulzBot-Mini_product-photoNot to pat ourselves on the back, but we are AWESOME and we have an AWESOME community! For the last four years, the fine folks over at Lulzbot have been hosting a hackerspace giveaway where hackerspaces around the country can enter to win one of their famed 3D printers. And I regret to inform you that we didn’t win. Don’t be so gullible, of course we won! Do you think I’d be writing this post if we didn’t?!?! So what does this mean? It means that we can add a new Lulzbot 3D printer to our ever-growing list of tools and services that we can offer you! Special thanks to the team that lead the efforts in submitting our space in the giveaway, specifically Sarah Stack, Jeff Crews and Mike Broome.

Introduction to Electronics, Sensors & Actuators Workshop Sat Feb 28th

downloadIf you are a complete n00b when it comes to electronics and would like a beginners crash course in what they’re all about, there will be an introductory course tomorrow (Feb 28th) led by Scott Hall. If you’re interested and can make it safely through the snow, please RSVP here and come join us! Here’s Scott’s description:

“This is a beginner’s introduction to electronics devices, circuits, and actuators and sensors.  This year I am going to have a on-going series of workshops founding an introduction to electronics up to the simple application of reading and controlling things.

Over the course of 6 or so workshops in 1 year, I hope to bring the attendees some basic knowledge electronics, building up to reading and controlling of devices in your home ala the Smart Home Initiative.  There is going to be a lot of hands on overall (not so much this first time), and the opportunity for the attendees to help steer what they want to learn.
There will be the teaching of electronic test equipment and learning how to design and debug circuits.  How to select parts.  How and where to purchase parts.  What tools to use when.  Even where to find some good reference material.”
